The Society has been working since 2007 to have our first Chief confirmed since 1809. We succeeded on the 19th of August 2019, when Dr Simon Peter Carruthers of Holmains (known as Peter) was confirmed Chief of the Name and Arms of Carruthers by the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh, Scotland. We have regional groups internationally, we are recognised bt the Scottish Australian Heritage Council and in membership of both the Clans and Scottish Societies of Canada (CASSOC) and the Council of Scottish Clans and Associations in the US working on your behalf.
As a Society, we are the only group legally recognised to represent the family, through the support of our Clan Chief, who is our Honorary President (a hereditary position). We are a not for profit group which is based in Scotland, with access to both genealogy and yDNA testing. Therefore the accuracy of our history and our heritage is extremely important to us.
